VTM Vice President Presents Strategic Communications Model for Nonprofits

January 2005

Giving back to the local community is high on Dr. Bill Warner’s list of priorities, and on VTM’s as well. Recently, VTM’s vice president and senior consultant for strategic communications spoke to a group of 99 local nonprofit executives about improving the way their organizations communicate.

Dr. Warner discussed a strategic communications model he has used to improve local nonprofit community outreach efforts. Drawing from his first-hand knowledge, he presented case studies illustrating how the model has helped nonprofits convey their mission, vision and goals – their soul – through unified messages.

“I really appreciated Bill’s comfort level with this material – using the visuals for ‘structuring’ and expanding on the visuals as he spoke,” remarked one participant.

Dr. Warner’s speech – “Branding: Crafting Your Nonprofit’s Message” – is one of many recent contributions he has made to the Portland community. He sits on the board of directors for Hoyt Arboretum and Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon, and also volunteers with the Technical Assistance for Community Services Executive Directors Network (TACS EDN), which sponsored the event.
